[The Dong-A Ilbo] 738 AI Cuts Alone… Korean AI Feature Genfluencer Officially Invited to CANNESERIES

Seoul, South Korea – The Korean AI hybrid feature Genfluencer (Produced by MooAm, Directed/Written by Harry Hyun) has been officially invited to the ‘Rendez-Vous’ section of the 9th Cannes International Series Festival (CANNESERIES). Supported by the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) for overseas distribution, this marks the first time a Korean AI feature project has been programmed and screened as part of the official CANNESERIES lineup.
Genfluencer is a psychological suspense drama that follows 'Ijin,' a protagonist who dreamt of becoming an idol but suffered a tragic accident. Ijin accesses the 'Genfluencer' system to give birth to the reborn K-pop idol 'Jina.' By integrating MooAm's proprietary AI production pipeline to train AI on specific characters and environments, the production implemented sophisticated scenes—including face swapping, relighting, and object removal—without the need for re-shooting.
This project involved the simultaneous development of an in-house AI video production builder. Over a period of approximately six months, more than 10,000 AI cuts were generated and tested, ultimately securing 738 'OK-cuts.' A selection of these was reflected in the final version, which not only enhanced the quality of both live-action and AI footage but also served as a significant case study validating AI-based production processes in a real feature-length production environment.
MooAm has recorded more than 20 achievements on the global stage, including receiving the Minister of Science and ICT Commendation (ICT Fund Next Awards) and winning the Grand Prize at the 1st CGV AI Film Festival for The Wrong Visitor. The company has demonstrated its technical reliability and industrial scalability through partnerships such as the CJ ENM AI Content Alliance and interactions with OpenAI Korea.
"As a small to medium-sized production company, our proactive introduction of AI into actual production sites and proving it through distributable results led to this invitation to Cannes," a MooAm representative stated. "Through this world premiere, we plan to introduce Korea's AI production model to the world and officially expand our global partnerships."
The 9th CANNESERIES will be held from the 23rd to the 28th at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France, with Genfluencer scheduled for screening on the 24th.
