Seoul, South Korea – K-content production company MooAm (CEO Harry Hyun) has confirmed the local broadcast of its flagship reality content, Be My K-guide: Korea-Japan Edition, across major Japanese OTT platforms.
Recently, reality show formats featuring romances between Korean men and international women have been gaining significant traction in the global content market. Several new titles are leading this trend, including MBN's Premarital Romance and the Netflix reality series Meu Namorado Coreano (a show documenting real-life romances between five Brazilian women and Korean men).
Be My K-guide, a reality show where a Korean male guide and a Japanese female traveler go on a 3-night, 4-day trip and date in Korea, was nominated for the KOCCA (Korea Creative Content Agency) New Media Content Award following its premiere in January 2025. It has since firmly established itself as a frontrunner in the global dating reality genre.
According to a MooAm representative, Be My K-guide will be sequentially released starting this February on U-NEXT, followed by ABEMA, FOD, and Hulu—the primary platforms leading the local Japanese market. Entering four major local platforms with strong market shares simultaneously is evaluated as a significant achievement that proves the mass appeal and competitiveness of MooAm's reality content.
MooAm has drawn industry attention for its hybrid production method combining AI and live-action, alongside its highly original planning. The company has been recognized for both its experimental endeavors and commercial quality through milestones such as an invitation to the 2025 Canneseries AI Content Screening and winning the Grand Prize at the 1st CGV AI Film Festival.
Currently, MooAm is actively integrating AI into the reality show sector as well. The company is planning a reality spin-off of the film Genfluencer—which tells the story of an idol created through generative AI—and is accelerating the development of new reality formats that combine K-pop with AI technology.
With this entry into the Japanese market, MooAm plans to confirm the new possibilities of K-content and further solidify its status on the global stage.
Following another major MooAm work, the film The Crash, which is currently reaching global audiences via Amazon Prime Video, the confirmed Japanese broadcast of Be My K-guide: Korea-Japan Edition is expected to further diversify MooAm's content distribution channels.
