K-content production company MooAm Production (CEO: Harry Hyun) announced that it will participate for the third consecutive year in the 8th Cannes International Series Festival (hereafter CANNESERIES) to be held in April in Cannes, France. At this year’s festival, MooAm plans to showcase innovative independent film production using generative AI technology and introduce its AI VFX capabilities to global content industry professionals.
MooAm has focused on applying generative AI technologies to narrative-driven independent films such as full-length features.
Typically, creating storyboards, animatics, and pre-visualization for films costs hundreds of thousands to tens of millions of won—an expense also significant for independent films.
By actively integrating generative AI into these processes, MooAm has demonstrated its practical value in real-world film and television production settings. Furthermore, the company is developing an AI-based production pipeline that significantly reduces production costs—once exclusive to large-scale capital and manpower—enabling even smaller production houses to maximize efficiency.
A MooAm spokesperson emphasized, “At this year’s CANNESERIES, we will reveal our efficient AI-based production processes, demonstrating that South Korea is utilizing generative AI technologies swiftly and effectively, and thereby expanding opportunities for global collaboration.”
MooAm had already garnered favorable reviews from international producers at the 2023 and 2024 CANNESERIES with its original IPs, including A Woman Who Worked Nine Contract Jobs and Sticker. In addition, its AI re-interpretation of the poem Me, Natasha and the White Donkey by poet Baek Seok was well-received at the Venice AI Film Award and the New York Shorts Animation Film Festival, showcasing MooAm’s technological expertise and creative vision. In April this year, the company produced a 100% AI-generated concept video for the world’s first deaf idol group Big Ocean, earning strong support from fans.
In addition, MooAm is strengthening its collaboration for discovering and safeguarding global IPs based on an MOU signed in December last year with Singapore’s SC Ventures. The company is also leading the establishment of an innovative financial model to connect creators and investors through a K-Content Fund.
“MooAm views AI not merely as a cost-saving measure but as a tool to expand creative expression,” said CEO Haeri Hyun. “We will continue to present innovative models for producing and globally distributing commercial films, dramas, and documentaries using AI technology.”
