SEOUL, South Korea – October 2, 2025 – K-content production studio MooAm today announced a landmark achievement for its AI short film, ‘The Wrong Visitor.’ Following its Grand Prize win at the inaugural CGV AI Film Festival in Korea, the film has now won ‘Best AI Film’ at the prestigious AI International Film Festival in Hollywood.
The festival, held on September 28 at the historic Los Feliz Theatre in Los Angeles, is a pioneering event that showcases the future of cinema at the intersection of art and artificial intelligence. ‘The Wrong Visitor’ was selected as the top film from a competitive field of 101 entries from 27 countries worldwide.
Directed by Harry Hyun, ‘The Wrong Visitor’ was lauded for its imaginative story, based on the logline, “What if the wrong visitor is sent to the gates of hell?” and its sophisticated use of AI technology to create a compelling cinematic narrative.
The festival also highlighted a significant surge in Korean talent. In addition to the top prize for ‘The Wrong Visitor,’ a total of five Korean films received awards, setting a new record for a single country. Among them, ‘Zero’ by director Dongha Oh won four awards, including Best Hybrid AI Film, and ‘The Butterfly Dream’ won Best Narrative Short.
"This month's lineup revealed a significant, and exciting, shift in the global creative landscape with five Korean films winning awards—a new record," stated Bert Holland, founder of the AI International Film Festival. "We are seeing the democratization of filmmaking play out in real-time, led by countries embracing these new tools."
A representative from MooAm commented, "We are incredibly honored to have our work recognized in Hollywood, the heart of the global film industry, following our Grand Prize win at Korea’s first major AI film festival. We will continue to merge human creativity with AI technology to deliver unprecedented cinematic experiences."
Building on this momentum, MooAm is already moving forward with its next project, the psychological suspense feature film ‘Genfluencer,’ which recently began production. The film explores the intricate psychological tension that unfolds when a protagonist creates a perfect K-pop idol using generative AI, delving into the themes of desire and chaos at the crossroads of the glamorous K-pop industry and the flawless world of a virtual being. The project was selected for the ‘2025 AI Video Content Production Support’ grant by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA).
‘Genfluencer’ marks an innovative leap as the first full-length Korean feature to implement AI for 50% of its visuals. The film, starring actress Bae Yoon-kyung in a transformative leading role, is slated for a global release in 2026.
