“K-Content Will Lead the Global Wave of AI Content”
Building a virtuous cycle ecosystem through cooperation across all areas of AI content: production, technology, distribution, and talent... The first private-sector-led initiative.
First half of the year: Establishing a foundation for AI content industry cooperation; Second half: Full-scale launch of joint projects.
CJ ENM: “We will create an AI content ecosystem through organic cooperation and contribute to leaping forward as an ‘AI Cultural Powerhouse’.”
CJ ENM (CEO Yoon Sang-hyun) announced on the 10th that it has launched the 'AI Content Alliance' in partnership with small and medium-sized AI production companies and educational institutions to build an AI content industry ecosystem. As the entire landscape of content production, distribution, and consumption is rapidly reshaping around AI technology, this alliance is drawing attention as Korea's first private-led cooperation model aimed at fostering a globally competitive AI content industry.
The launch event, held on February 9 at the CJ ENM Center in Sangam-dong, was attended by key figures including Kim Jae-hyun, Director General of the Media & Content Industry Bureau at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST). Participants included CJ ENM, 13 content production companies ranging from startups distinguished by awards at domestic and international AI film festivals to long-standing industry leaders, and 5 educational institutions dedicated to fostering talent in the AI content media field. The alliance plans to gradually expand its scope to include domestic and international media and technology companies in the future.
In his congratulatory remarks, Director General Kim Jae-hyun emphasized, “The AI Content Alliance is a starting point to explore new creative opportunities by combining AI technology with content and to leap forward as a global AI content hub.” He added, “We will support private-sector innovation through timely assistance and investment, and establish an institutional foundation that fosters continued cooperation and a virtuous cycle.”
The participating companies agreed to build a virtuous cycle ecosystem for the entire industry by organically connecting content production, technology, distribution, talent, and policy, and to prepare a common foundation for entering the global market. In particular, they decided to recognize AI content not merely as a technological adoption but as a core engine reshaping creation methods and the overall industrial structure, aiming to accumulate substantial achievements through private-public-academic cooperation.
Through this alliance, CJ ENM plans to accelerate field-centered AI content experiments and joint tasks, and to establish a cooperation model where SMEs and educational institutions can grow together, thereby laying a foundation for the sustainable growth of the AI content industry.
The AI Content Alliance will promote joint activities centering on five key cooperation tasks:
△Expanding differentiated AI content production, △Specialized technology R&D, △Fostering professional talent, △Expanding domestic/international distribution platforms, and △Creating a policy foundation.
In the first half of the year, the alliance plans to design talent development programs optimized for the AI industry through an industry-academic consultative body and launch them in educational institutions during the second half. For joint production projects, the alliance will begin matching participating companies through regular meetings, such as workshops, aiming for a kick-off in the second half of the year.
Yoon Sang-hyun, CEO of CJ ENM, stated, “Behind the K-Content industry leading the global market, there has always been a balanced ecosystem built upon the concerns and determination of various industry players.” He declared, “CJ ENM will rapidly create a cooperative AI content ecosystem connecting production, technology, distribution, talent, and policy through this alliance, contributing to Korea’s leap as an ‘AI Cultural Powerhouse’.”
